Six Nations – Scotland Return to Form to be Put to the Test against the French

It's been a troubling time for Scottish rugby over the past few Six Nations'. The fact that Scotland have lost their opening two matches of the tournament for the past five consequential years speaks volumes of the decline faced at Murrayfield. However, despite defeats against arch rivals England and Wales this year, a few shoots of optimism are beginning to spring through positive displays, which saw the Scots unlucky to lose both matches.

Edinburgh And Comedy

The comedy at this year’s Edinburgh Festival was every bit as thought-provoking, progressive and sublime in parts as it has been in past years. One of the acts definitely worth seeing was Sean Lock. I would recommend any one who is into comedy to try and see him if ever he is performing close to where you live.

A Student in Glasgow

Every now and then, I find myself reflecting on my time spent in the wonderful country of Scotland. I had spent nearly two years there, while attending a University in Glasgow. Of course, I had my options as to which university I wanted to study at, but there was no second guessing my decision of Glasgow.

Cuisine of the Raj in Liverpool

India was once considered the jewel in the crown of the British Empire but the halcyon days of the Raj are long gone. Yet the benefits of empire remain. Arguably the largest benefit to modern Britain from its once vast empire is a rich tradition of exotic cuisine. Indian food is the jewel in the crown of any British city’s cuisine. The British are experts in the wide variety of curries and Indian food in the UK is easily the best outside the subcontinent itself. Whether you are staying at a cheap hotel Liverpool centre offers, a posh five star in London, or a in the village of Whitchurch in North Shropshire, you are certain to find excellent Indian food. From the big city to the small town, Indian food is ubiquitous in England and it is ubiquitously delicious.

The Return of a Prodigal Son – Charlie Mulgrew

On July 1st 2010, Charlie Mulgrew gleefully returned to boyhood hero's Celtic four years and four clubs on, as manager Neil Lennon's first signing. Today Mulgrew has made himself an intrinsic part of the Celtic team and a favourite with the home support. However, it could have been so different for Charlie, who in 2006 left Celtic Park for England, deemed surplus to requirements and found himself a journeyman cut adrift south of the boarder.

Shrewsbury Castle Tops Attractions

Shrewsbury has a lot to offer when it comes to tourist attractions. The fact that there are so many hotels in Shrewsbury suggests that this city is growing to be a major epicentre for sightseeing in recent years. However the highlight of the city must be the red sandstone Shrewsbury Castle.

Highlands

Perhaps the most well known region of Scotland are the Highlands. I had heard of this area from numerous people that have had the opportunity to visit, but I never thought that I would find myself there, until last year.

Self, Good Job

Somewhat left to my own devices, I was put in charge of planning our family's next vacation. While many stress at such an undertaking, I must say that I rather enjoyed it. Looking at some of the Short break Scotland Hotels that were available, I began to imagine the possibilities. We could make day trips to some of the larger cities of Scotland, or perhaps hike the Highlands.

Hidden Gems Around the World

Some of the world’s great sights and cities are famous across the planet. Who among us isn’t familiar with the image of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, Big Ben in London, Niagara Falls or the Colosseum in Rome? Even if we have never visited these places, the images are so widely celebrated in film, on television and in magazines and newspapers that we already feel familiar with them. Other destinations are less well known, but none the less worthy of a visit than their better known counterparts.
