Docklands Attractions


Docklands district is located in the northeastern and southeastern part of London and years ago it was a home to the world's busiest port. However, if you are planning a getaway to London and you want to stay in some Docklands hotel, you may need some information about the area and attractions you could visit there. But, before I give you a list with the things you could see and do during your stay in Docklands, here are some information about the district. For instance, most of the buildings in the area are warehouses, built in Georgian architectural style and now they are homes of many different bars and restaurants. Moreover, London Docklands are situated close to Canary Wharf which is both business and industrial center of London. Hence, here are some Docklands attractions, you could visit when you are in London:

  1. Museum of London Docklands – The museum of London Docklands is one excellent choice, where you would enjoy different collections that contain many paintings, photos and historic artifacts and tell stories about the Docklands district and its past.

  2. The “Landed” Statue – Built in 2009, this sculpture became a main tourist landmark which attracts visitors with its impressive, made by bronze, look.

  3. 8 Canada Square – Designed by the prominent British architect Norman Foster and completed in 2002, 8 Canada Square is the second highest building in Docklands area. It is also known as the HSBC Tower, because of the abbreviation placed on the top of the building.

  4. Cabot Place Shopping Centre is another local attraction, where you will have the opportunity to choose between many shops that offer to its visitors variety of different products and souvenirs. Moreover, there are many places for leisure, where you will have the opportunity to enjoy nice meal and delicious cocktails.

  5. Docklands Accommodation – There are many luxury hotels in Docklands that provide variety of top service and make everything in favor of their clients.
