Venice is considered as historical treasure not only due to the fact that it is floating on water but also as it is keeping large amount of the historical marks telling all the visitors of the city, the story of the past. Even though huge number of visitors that the hotels in Venice are welcoming each year the italian city is threaten by sinking. Every year the level of the sea waters is getting higher and destroying the foundations of the historical buildings. Unfortunately this is not the only problem as the flooding are seriously damaging the everything they can reach.
Word organization UNESCO is worried that if the immediate measures are not taken the large part of the city could very soon be under water. A lot of the Foundations already started initiatives in order appropriate solutions to be find as well as some money to be raised. Even though the Italian government is trying to fight the natural powers and to slow the processes of destructions the world tendency of global warming which is causing the sea level increase is difficult to be prevented. The last proposals are for decreasing levels of CO2 which is causing global warming and some actions for protection the city from the waves to be taken. From the local city administrations were already ordered the foundations of the buildings to be strengthened as well as special waterproof materials to be used. Those practices are already taken from large number of Venice hotels which's basements are flooding every year. Most important from all the measures is the project for the mobile barriers which should prevent the serious flooding. Unfortunately this is just a temporary decision.
